The new world tour will be merging the Freesking World Tour and The North Face Masters of Snowboarding, and promises the world's top freeriders competing on world-class off-piste terrain in Chamonix.

Temperatures have been dropping sharply over the last few weeks and we are now getting close to a winter climate here in the Alps.

This episode from Epic TV follows Julien Herry, Davide Capozzi and Luca Rolli first snowboard decent of the Couloir NE of Col Armand Charlet, a beautiful and steep couloir in the Mont Blanc Massif.

Chamonix Skier Aurelien Ducroz won the last leg of the Freeride World Tour in Verbier yesterday and was crowned World Champion.

Local photgrapher and mountain biker Dan Milner takes us on a ride along the Chamonix valley mountain bike trails.

London's Metro Ski and Snowboard Show marks the start of the winter season and this year's extravaganza is no exception. You'll see the familiar faces of winters past and can make the most of the experts on hand to advise you on anything snow-related: from which chalet to choose; kids facilities in various resorts and of course... where to get the best snow!

The winter season had it's first public on-snow event this weekend.

The lifts at the Grand Montets close next Sunday and with that the 2009/2010 winter season comes to a close here in Chamonix and we'll see out the end of the skiing in style with the Freeride Days at the Grand Montets.

January 2009 has been a great month in the Alps. We've had skiing and snowboarding competitions in the shape of the Tignes Airwaves and a number of slightly more unusual events too.

Winter is coming. There is no denying it. Temperatures have dropped, days have become shorter and Christmas decorations are ALREADY in the supermarkets!

It won't be long until we can start watching some of our favourite ski racers and national champions hurtling down the mountain again. Forget Ski Sunday, here's where you can come and watch some of the action live in resort:

Winter starts this weekend in London with the annual Ski and Snowboard Show. This year the show is back in its old venue of Earl's Court and, as usual, there is plenty to do. To help you make the most of the show we went ahead and came up with a list of our top five attractions for this year.

It's hot and that makes for dry, dusty mountain bike trails.. These guys have been pinning it on the trails at Le Tour.. take a look.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse recently and we have had quite a bit of rain and cloud here in Chamonix. Despite that we're still looking forward to the Mountain bike Championships, the Mountain rescue open day and the fete de la Musique.

Marie makes a welcome return just in time to find it snowing in town. The snow depths are looking good and as of this weekend almost all of the Chamonix ski areas will be open.

The TDDSR spent the day with the friendly chaps from ‘The Urban Knights’ who are here in Chamonix for an event at Le Vert Hotel as part of the SnowBombing Occupy Tour.

The World Heli Challenge is going global and here the TDDSR crew catch up with photographer Tony Harrington, who is in Chamonix filming for a documentary featuring the lovely Janina & Maria Kuzma.

We have had glorious sunshine all week here in Chamonix and the skiing in Brevent, Flegere and the Grands Montets has been brilliant.

With the warm spring-like conditions here in Chamonix the TDDSR crew head up to Grands Montets for a jib session, not just in the snowpark.

We've had plenty of snow here in Chamonix and as the skies are forecast to clear soon it looks like the Christmas skiing is going to be great. Merry Christmas.

We have seen more snow in Chamonix in December than we had in the whole of last season and there is more forecast for the weekend. The cover at Brevent earlier in the week was excellent conditions on and off piste are set to improve as we move into 2012. Have a very happy New Year.

Some amazing conditions in Chamonix at the moment - the low temperatures are keeping the snow in great condition and yes there are still some fresh tracks to be had!

Bit of a snowy white out so the guys from the TDDSR look for some visibility in the trees of Grands Montets.

We have had so much snow lately that the pisteurs have had to close quite a few of the high, exposed slopes. There is still some great skiing to be had on the more sheltered runs and earlier in the week there was some excellent snow at Flegere too.

It feels like summer started early here in Chamonix and as the town prepares for the busy months that will bring in coach loads of tourists, climbers, bikers and marathon runners we thought we'd have a look at some of the many activities available in the Chamonix Valley.

The river Arve that runs through Chamonix is not the most popular spot for kayaking but as Simon Eriksson, John Vincent, Henrik Balkander and Bjarne Sahlen show us there is a lot of potential here. Thanks to endlessflow.net for this video.

Snow fell this week in Chamonix, all the way down to town. It might not last for long on the lower slopes but on the higher ground the pistes and even the off piste has been topped up nicely.

The sun has returned to Chamonix Mont Blanc and what better way of celebrating than taking to the skies?There are a number of Paragliding / Parapente schools in Chamonix and any of them will treat you to something pretty special.Ahead we also have Les Fete des Guides which is an annual celebration that culminates on Monday with a light show at the climbing wall at Les Gaillands.

The sun is finally going to return tomorrow and with it should come some of the best skiing conditions of the season. It was really cold over the weekend and even today there was a chilly wind. This should mean that the snow stays fresh for the next few days and we will be able to enjoy all the powder in beautiful sunshine.

Crampons and ice axes are part of the daily packing list as we get to follow Oakley riders JP Auclair & Andreas Fransson around some of Chamonix's peaks.

Chamonix local Guillaume Bocquet has been popping up on Youtube for his unique aerial Chamonix videos. Guillaume built his first drone at the age of 12 and since then he has developed new drones with lightweight HD cameras built-in. At present his 'multicopter' is just a side project for the carpenter from Les Houches, but we are sure as his work develops he will soon be in the spotlight. Now that the school holidays are over the slopes are a lot quieter and the queues for the lifts have died down.

We have been enjoying great pistes all week in Chamonix and the sun has been out nearly every day.

Every year the Völkl ski team gather up all their pro-riders and go on a special shoot - this year Völkl chose Chamonix. Watching this video you can see why they chose Chamonix : great freeride terrain with stunning backdrops, great snow depths, church-ruins for night ski sessions...

We have had snow falling above 1600m all week and there is more to come!! This has reduced the visibility on the slopes but has made the skiing unusually good. So good, infact, that Flegere is going to remain open for an additional week.

As the weather has improved dramatically we've been out enjoying some of the great activities Chamonix has to offer. Although people don't often think of Cham as a golfing destination it does have a beautiful 18 hole course in Les Praz with one of the best backdrops you'll find on any fairway in the world.Hopefully this good weather will continue as the last big event of the summer is just around the corner; The North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

Local HD adventure sports movie channel Epic TV pull in wingsuit pilots Jokke Sommer and Espen Fadnes to talk about wingsuiting from Chamonix’s Brevent lift station - which was opened for the first time just a few weeks ago.

Yesterday was the Freeride World Tour Juniors event which managed to go ahead despite the tough weather conditions, although by the time the event had finished less than two-thrids of the riders managed a line which consequently vetoed this event from overall rankings.

The Freeride World Tour was on in Courmayeur today and we caught up with some of the riders including Xavier de La Rue, Ralph Backstrom and Aurelien Ducroz. All the riders are excited about the Freeride World Tour stop in Chamonix this weekend and we can't wait either!!

Seb Montaz has posted a farewell message to his friend Stephane Brosse who lost his life in a tragic accident on the 17th June 2012, when a snow cornice collpased under his weight on the aiguille d'Argentière.

There's just hours to go until The Swatch Freeride World Tour by The North Face gets underway here in Chamonix. We met up with pro rider Ralph Backstrom from the USA in the Hotel Alpina last night for a chat about all things freeride - from who to watch in this weekend's competition to life as a pro snowboarder, and the legendary two A's - Alaska and Antarctica.

The remarkable late season snow we have been enjoying keeps falling and there is plenty of great snow at Le Grand Montets even if the visibility isn't always great. As the winter season winds to a close there will be parties all over town and up on the hill. For more information on those visit our "What's on Calendar".

It seems that the Chamonix ban on wingsuit jumps on the Brevent and the Aiguille du Midi hasn't stopped the growth of the extreme sport in the Chamonix valley as already two wingsuit videos have been released of jumps off the Petit Drus. The first video (shown here) is of Russion wingsuiter Valery Rozov, know for his jump off the Grand Pilier d’Angle at 4243m, who made the jump from the Dru over a year ago. Another video shows Géraldine Fasnacht and Julien Mayer jumping from the same spot on the Dru - Géraldine is a World Freeride snowboard champ and professional base jumper.

The TDDSR crew put on their fake accents in this episode of the Daily Dump Snow Report in support of Australia Day here in Chamonix.

In this video Epic TV discuss the controversial decision from Chamonix town hall to ban wingsuit jumps from the Brevent and the Aiguille du Midi subsequent to the death of Norwegian wingsuiter Jon Inge Hovda. The video interview calls on views from two Chamonix locals; wingsuit pilot Roch Malnuit and paraglider pilot Sean Potts (from Fly Chamonix). Both Roch and Sean agree that wingsuit flying has it's place in Chamonix and the wingsuit ban is justifiable decision from the Chamonix mayor.

The inaugural Alpine ARC'ademy event in Chamonix happened over 3 days at the start of June. The unique mountaineering educational weekender took place up at the Aiguille du Midi, here in Chamonix. The event was presented as a weekend of mountaineering education, experience and inspiration for beginners and skilled mountaineers but proved to be just as much a celebration of mountaineering.

We have been enjoying the beautiful sunshine here in Chamonix and the spring skiing. Although the lower slopes do get quite slushy and in places the snow is getting a little thin most of the ski areas still have good cover and the snow in the high north facing slopes of the Grand Montets is still great.

The Daily Dump Snow Report crew are back in Chamonix and with it comes their first video report. No need for words here, the shots of the powder in Flegere say it all!

We have seen a dramatic change in the weather with very warm sunny days and high Spring like temperatures. This has melted the snow in the afternoon and caused conditions on the pistes to be quite slow and sticky but it does make long lunches in the sun an attractive option.

This video from the Chamonix Club des sports, although in French, gives us a superb view of the epic runners event here in Chamonix.

This special Salomon Freeski TV episode follows the Swedish ski-mountaineer, Andreas Fransson, who makes an astonishing comeback after breaking his neck in an avalanche on the Aiguille Verte in Chamonix.

In case you missed it or want to relive the memories of the epic conditions over the past month in Chamonix the Doglotion Chamonix diaries have put together an nice edit of some superb off-piste skiing up on the Aiguille du Midi, Couloir des Cosmique and the Glacier Ronde.

This trailer arrived from great heights into our hands, the short video gives a glimpse into ultra athlete Kilian Jornet current project 'Summit of My Life'. The idea for Summit of My Life was born right here in Chamonix, Mont Blanc when Kilian set out on two world firsts, first traversing the Mont Blanc massif from East to West on skis,and then from South to North arriving in Chamonix through a mixture of climbing and running.

Vincent Descols, aka Le Blond, takes us on an epic journey as he he launches himself off the Brevent and flies down lines at speed with his wingusit here in Chamonix. These are some of the most impressive wingsuit lines we've seen and are without doubt reserved for the professionals - there are some very close moments indeed! Proximity fliers, like Vincent Descols, generally fly at a steep trajectory which gives the option to flatten out at any time to give themselves a bit more height when too close.

Already a month has gone by since the legendary Winter Sessions Weekender here in Chamonix, but the guys from Winter Sessions have since had the time to put all the best bits into this short video featuring the freestyle ski & snowboard competition, an air show from local wingsuit base jumpers and not to mention lots of partying!

The weather has not been great this week in Chamonix but hopefully the temperatures will drop this weekend and we may even get some fresh snow in time for Easter.

With the Black Weekend coming to Chamonix this weekend, the daytime events kick off with a 'hotdogging' day on the Grands Montets.

The weather has been a little changeable this week with some clouds blowing in bringing some fresh snow. Mostly though the skies have been clear and we have been able to enjoy the skiing both and and off piste.

In the week before the busy period of the season starts the pistes have been empty and in excellent condition. Over in La Tour we've had some great skiing and with more cold weather and clear skies on the way it looks like we have more on the horizon.

We have had almost uninterrupted snow fall since last weekend and that has given us huge snow depths and deep, deep powder.

Taking Chamonix by snowstorm in the 70's were freeride entrepreneurs such as Perfect Moment founder, Thierry Donard.

The World Climbing Championships 2011 come to Chamonix next week and the walls have already gone up in the centre of town.

The sun is still shining but thunderstorms on Friday do threaten what could be a great weekend. The 10th Rock Climbing World Championships are taking place in Chamonix this weekend with climbers from all over the world coming to town to challenge the laws of physics and show that gravity is a guideline rather than a rule.

It's a big week in Chamonix. The World Climbing Championships start this Sunday and the finals will be held on Tuesday. Then as soon as they finish the Nissan Outdoor Games makes it's first summer appearance in Chamonix.With a heat wave forecast lets just hope it isn't too hot for all the athletes!!

Freezing temperatures and clear blue skies characterised the last week. Temperatures are set to stay low this week, with light winds and a light fall of snow expected over the ex 7 days.

It feels like we are moving into Spring here in Chamonix with warm sunny weather. Despite all the sunshine and a lack of new snow the pistes are in very goodshape and the skiing in Brevent, where I was this week, was pretty good. I've also been flying recently which is a great activity and something I'd reccomend to anyone who wants to try something a little different.

Although we are moving further into autumn this weekend’s weather couldn’t be more different from last Fridays snow storm. The forecast is for the sun to continue on through the weekend and into next week which will make for a very pleasant few days off work.

After a cold and VERY wet couple of days for the World Climbing Championships last weekend, the snow line crept almost back down to the mid-stations at 2000m! Thankfully the sunshine and warm temperatures have returned and look set to remain with us for the next few days.

This week, Tom's report comes from the Petit Balcon Sud trail, high above Argentiere. Looks like there is some great stuff going on in spite of Mother Nature's best efforts!

Despite the recent rain, which has altered conditions on lower slopes, there is a massive amount of good snow around. Jonathan is celebrating having skied 30 powder days this season with an Italian mixed grill.

Trig is up at La Tour making the most of the Spring snow which, along with La Grand Montets,has the best snow in the chamonix valley.

Antoine Montant pulls off a first: speed riding along the cables of Chamonix's old cable car. Antoine won best speedflyer three years in a row, is he now starting a new park style of speed flying?

The sun has come out!! The skies have cleared around Chamonix and the sun is shining high and with that comes a raise in temperatures.

The summer has started early in Chamonix with the first half of May being blessed with warm, sunny weather.

This weeks report comes from inside the Chamonix ice rink where local hockey team the Chamonix Chamois are getting some late night practice on the ice.

Jonathan reports from the Tete de Balme at Le Tour. Snow conditions are still decent, although other parts of the valley are starting to degrade.

This weekend sees the Fete des Guides taking place in Chamonix, so Tom took at trip down to the Les Gaillands venue to watch the final preparations coming together. And as always, he's got the lowdown on valley trail conditions.

August is in full swing and although the weather is not as sunny as it might be we have still got plenty going on here in Chamonix to keep us entertained.

Trig is enjoying an unforecast beautiful day in Brevent with wonderful snow and plenty of fresh powder still to be had.

Jonathan has just had his first ski of the season and reports from his return point of the Montenvers Railway Station. Snow conditions are disappointing and unseasonably warm weather is not helping.Jonathan gives his top tips on how to make the most of the less-than-perfect conditions and declares that there is still plenty of fun to be had if you know where to look!

We've had some great snow since Sunday and although the clouds have moved in from time to time the snow has remained good.We're looking forward to the Freeride World Tour and keeping our eye on Brit snowboarder James Stentiford.

Although the weather in town this week has been pretty dismal every time the rain stops and the clouds clear there is a new dusting of snow on the peaks which is causing great excitement in town.

Flegere, Les Houches and La Tour are now closed here in Chamonix due to a lack of snow but the Brevent and Grand Montets ski areas are still open for skiers and snowboarders.The best snow is up at Les Grand Montets but it is not possible to ski down to the car park so the lifts can become quite congested.

This week's report comes from the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice), France's largest glacier and one of the biggest tourist attractions in Chamonix.

Snowfall last Saturday and clear, blue skies Sunday, Monday and Tuesday made for amazing skiing conditions this week, probably the best so far this season.

This weekend, climbers from all over the world flocked to Chamonix to take part in the World Climbing Championships. Get the full coverage from the Difficulty and Speed parts of the event in Tom's report right here.

Jonathan is coming from a very windy Pointe Helbronner at 3462 meters, so apologies for the brief loss of sound quality. There have been some good dumps of snow which have led to excellent off-piste conditions, some of which you can see.

Sofia has been hiking into couloirs and making the most of the snow higher up. Looking forward to St Paddy's day this weekend and some new snow.

The forecasters have really struggled this week and none of the expected snow arrived. However we have been enjoying cold temperatures and some great piste conditions.The big event this weekend is the Winter Session Weekender Party and the Monoski test day, footage of which comes courtesy of www.monoski.free.fr.Hopefully you'll be able to join us for at least one of these events.

Today Trig is up at Brevent and although the snow is good it's not new so there is no running down into town. The new lift is pulling it's weight and moving people up and down without queues.

Not sure if we can call this skiing but Seb Montaz goes in search of some fresh tracks on the west face of the Charlet-Straton, Aiguille d'Argentière.

After watching the World Climbing Championships and the Nissan Outdoor Games I was inspired to go climbing.

It's goodbye from Trig for this year. Though fear not, James our summer reporter will be delivering the end of season roundup from Freeride Days, Chamonix's closing party.

Recent heavy snowfall has improved the snow cover and provided plenty of good off-piste. Jonathan reports from Les Houches, one of the best places to head when weather in the rest of the valley is closing in. Jonathan has also popped through the tunnel to check out conditions in Courmeyeur and was very impressed.

Half term has hit town, but Jonathan has a top tip for avoiding the queues. He's up at le Tour and the on piste conditions are pretty excellent, although since it hasn't snowed for a while it's not all perfect off-piste.

Jonathan is at a very windy Le Tour enjoying the copious amounts of fresh snow. Conditions generally are excellent. He also talks about the benefits of unlimited use of the Courmayeur lift system through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, available to those skiing in Chamonix this winter.

Trig is in Saint Gervais, part of the Megeve network all available to ski from Chamonix if you buy the 'Ski Pass Mont Blanc' - not to be confused with the similarly named 'Mont Blanc Unlimited'.

We have had low clouds and flat light and clear skies and sunshine in Chamonix this week.Hope fully the next few days will bring us some snow and some lower temperatures.

Although there is not much new happening in Chamonix this coming week is full of pre-winter celebrations.

Tom's report for this week comes from Planpraz, which en route to Brevent is one of the last lifts that is still open in the valley. Chamonix has a busy activity and events schedule planned for this summer, so stay tuned to Tom each Thursday and he'll keep you up to date with what's been going on.

This weeks report comes from the base of the Aiguille du Midi and finds Chamonix in fairly Autumnal conditions. The temperature has cooled and while mid day is still very mild the mornings are quite chilly.

Sadly, no fresh snow this week but beautiful weather over the weekend and into Monday/Tuesday made for a stunning start to half term.

The 21st annual 'Boss De Bosses' was once again blessed with beautiful weather.

Jonathan is up the Grands Montets at the Whiteburn Phat Challenge ski-cross event, with a summary of the snow conditions which are still good - but he is looking forward to the new snow which is forecast.

The Marathon du Mont Blanc took place in Chamonix last weekend and thankfully the skies cleared in time for all the runners.

The hot weather has become outrageous, with weather reports using adjectives like 'scorching' and the temperatures soaring accordingly. Cool off with Tom in this week's installment of the Trail Report.

The last big event of the summer is just around the corner and Killian, Marco, Darwa and Lizzie are all going to be back to take on the 2010 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

We have had superb conditions since the sun came out last weekend. Even though it is the busy family holiday season we managed to escape the crowds and found huge, empty powder fields of un-tracked snow above Le Tour and enjoyed one of the best days of the season so far.

The freezing level has dropped and the snow is coming in, transforming Chamonix into a winter wonderland!The Boss des Bosses competition at the Grands Montets may suffer a little from the weather but clear patches are forecast so fingers crossed for Wednesday!

This week has been very sunny in Chamonix but the temperatures are definitely dropping and there have been quite heavy freezes recently over night. Hopefully this drop in temperature means that when the skies do cloud over this weekend there will be snow fall.

This will be the last video snow report of the winter but we'll be back in the summer with trail reports and coverage of the big events like the North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, the Chamonix Marathon and the World Climbing Championships.

It looks like it’s going to be another big weekend in Chamonix. All the usual events will be on; Curry night at MBC, wine tasting at Cha Cha Cha and the Sunday barbeque at Le Vert, but on top of that there are a variety of new ones!

Another great week skiing in Chamonix. Heavier than predicted snowfall last weekend and clear blue skies Monday and Tuesday made for perfect conditions.

I've been skiing in Flegere, Brevent and Les Grand Montets this week and conditions were better than expected. The queues were almost non-existent and the pistes were in good condition.

Trig is late this week but comes with news of the new Aguille du Midi Station, James Bond's parents demise and shots of some powder hounds.

Welcome to the weekly summer reports! Winter is now over and James has moved to Chamonix from Val d'Isere. Each week he'll be out and about trying different sports and activities in the area, he'll also bring you all the latest news and weather reports as well as a look at up coming events. So if you want to stay up to date with what's going on in Chamonix then log on each week.

Trig finally hits the slopes of Chamonix after a couple of weeks in Italy. Although the temperature have risen, and then fallen over the nights, the pistes are looking nice. Firm, but nice.

The Daily Dump goes riding with the super-enthusiastc Roxy girls.

Tom is up in the mountains again; this week he's in the woods below the Merlet animal park, on the hiking and biking trail down to Chamonix.

It's almost the end of the ski season here in Chamonix and despite the fact that the lifts are starting to shut down there is still plenty of good snow left up at the Grand Montets, where the lifts will remain open 'till May 9th.The end of season parties are starting to kick off and we enjoyed the Winter Sessions Weekender last weekend and are looking forward to the Fete de Brevent and the Freeride Days.

The half term holidays have finally arrived and with them the large crowds. This has meant that there are some queues for the lifts here in Chamonix but on the whole it's not too bad.With fresh snow arriving at the beginning of the week and more forecast for the end of the week things are looking up on the snow front.

Rain has drenched even the higher pistes and made conditions hard and icy. There are large green patches showing through lower down and the recent World Cup event has had to be cancelled.However, Jonathan is hopeful for a change of pace as snow is forecast and already appears to be on its way. Keep on checking his reports for top tips on where to head when the snow arrives.

The end of the French school holidays sees reduced lift queues and emptier pistes. The Vallorcine area has been particularly quiet with some nice snow. Jonathan has his fingers crossed for more snow as lower areas are starting to look a bit patchy. Heavy cloud and snowy weather forecasts look promising.

Just through the Mont Blanc tunnel, 20 mins drive from Chamonix lies Courmayeur; a resort free from queues but packed with mountain restaurants serving incredible Italian food and coarse coffees. But that's not all. There's powder and lot's of it. Team manager James Stentiford schools the young DC team riders on the art of riding backcountry kickers in Chamonix.

Jonathan talks about the World Cup Downhill and Super Combined, which will be held in the Chamonix Valley this weekend. Course officials have declared the Verte des Houches to be in near perfect condition for racing and snow in the rest of the valley is great as well.

Tom's Thursday report comes from the bottom of the Bossons glacier this week, in an idyllic spot not far from the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Although last weekend rain fell heavily in Chamonix since then we have had clear, blue skies.

This week I have skied in Les Houches and Le Brevent/ Flegere areas.The snow in Les Houches was in good condition considering how low the area is and the pistes were quiet.The Cross country skiing in Les Houches is still excellent and the area offers great views of the Chamonix valley and Mont Blanc.

Jonathan reports from the stunning location of the Argentiere glacier. There are still a few lifts open at the Grands Montets and Flegere and very few tourists left, so he\'s been enjoying having the mountains to himself!Increased sunshine has made a few places a bit slushy but the Aiguille du Midi and the Grands Montets still have some decent skiing to offer.Jonathan is looking forward to the end of season Freeride day coming up soon at the Grands Montets.

It's been very mixed this week in Cham and the forecast is for more changeable weather into next week.Up high the snow is good and there is still plenty more to come.

The weather is still hot and sunny and there is still loads going on in Cham. This weekend runners from all over the world will compete in the Marathon du Mont Blanc, a gruelling marathon through the woods and mountains of Chamonix.

Jonathan is up at Le Tour, where it is the final day of the season; although up at the Grands Montets the lifts will still be running until the 11th of May. The conditions have been great, with some excellent spring snow to finish on.

August is almost over and the busiest period of the summer is coming to a close but the month is going out in style. This weekend is one of the biggest in the Chamonix summer calendar as the North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc takes place over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Jonathan is in Courmayeur in Italy, unlimited use of which is now included in the Chamonix lift pass for the first time. He discusses the benefits and practicalities of this, as well as the general conditions.

We have had great weather this week in Chamonix and the forecast is for more sunshine this weekend. Even though we haven't had any fresh snow lately we still found some powder on a recent tour in Flegere.

Jonathan has been enjoying the recent run of powder days and gives a run-down of the best places to head for some great days out.Coming up are the Helly Hanson and Evolution 2 freeride competitions at Flegere - all are welcome either to compete or spectate!

It has been a week of mixed weather here in Chamonix but when the clouds cleared and the sun came out the skiing was great. Hopefully we'll see more powder days in the sun over Easter.

This weekend runners from all over the world filled the streets and mountain trails of Chamonix for the Mont Blanc Marathon weekend. The main events of the two day festival were the Cross du Mont Blanc and the Marathon.

Bad weather has driven James inside this week. Fear not though as it has taken him to one of France's largest indoor rock climbing centres in Les Houches.

We've had an amazing week of fresh spring snow here in Chamonix with more snow falling heavily today and even more forecast for Saturday.Happy Easter to everyone. I'm back for my second report of the summer and as the weather has turned quite Scottish with plenty of low cloud and rain I thought it'd be a good idea to explore one of Scotland's favourite past times; Golf.

On Christmas Eve Father Christmas arrived to fireworks in the Tourist Office square and the town is still buzzing with festive cheer.

Most people who went to Les Houches this weekend did so to see the downhill skiers on Le Vert run but for freestyler's there was only one draw; the opening of the DC Park!

This week’s report finds James down at the Gaillands climbing wall just outside the centre of town. The wall has 27 marked routes on the main face as well as numerous climbs in the woods behind. The routes are all bolted so they are perfect for those who want to lead and some are even suitable for top roping.

We have had some very mixed weather this week in Chamonix with good skiing up at the Grand Montets earlier in the week where the pistes were firm and fast.It looks like we have more mixed weather ahead of us with clouds and rain forecast for a couple of days before the sun comes out this weekend.

This week’s report comes after a full day of snow fall!! There was a significant dump yesterday and the snow fell all the way down into town transforming Chamonix into a winter wonderland.

We have had more of the same this week; clear skies and cold temperatures. Although the off piste is suffering due to a lack of snow there is still plenty of good skiing on piste.

We have had a real mix of weather recently with hot sunny weather through May and then rain and even some snow since the beginning of June.

Choo choo! This Thursday, Tom's aboard the Chamonix Valley rail network, on the Mont Blanc Express.

Jonathan is floating above the Vallée Blanche in the Panoramique lift, which has opened early this year. The conditions in the Valley are great after several small snow falls in the last week. There are now six meters of snow at the top of Grands Montets.

Epic conditions for the Chamonix leg of the Freeride World Tour which was won by local, Candide Toevex with a fluid, explosive, crowd-pleasing run.

Temperatures are dropping again, and with the freezing level back down to 500m this weekend we're expecting snow in town this week. The Winter X Games take place in Tignes next week and A-Skillz is playing at LeVert on Friday night so it should be an exciting seven days. Thanks to Rob Lamy for the footage of the Flegere powder.

Jonathan is finding good conditions at Le Tour, with the odd icy patch to dodge. Some pistes have closed due to poor cover but a combination of light snow and cannon blasting has left most slopes in a respectable state. With more snow forecast things are looking up and Jonathan has an insider tip on how to beat the queues!

Trig is down in Les Houches enjoying the cover offered by the trees and the shelter from the Foehn wind.

Although the skies have yet to clear and the clouds are still low James heads out on his bike through the woods around Chamonix.

Although the busiest month of the summer season is now behind us and town is quieting down there is still plenty going on in Chamonix.

Today Jon reports from the Tete de Balme chairlift at Le Tour. Conditions on-piste are still nice considering the lack of recent snow, off-piste is not faring so well but fingers are crossed for more snow soon.

Changes have needed to be made to the access to the piste leading towards the Argentiere glacier from the top cable car at Grands Montets, thanks to two large crevasses in the normal route down.

It's the final report of the season, but what a season it has been and it's going out out with a bang!

Jonathan reports from Le Tour and is making the most of the varied terrain and sunny weather. Conditions on other ski areas is good in the mornings but softening up in the afternoons.

This week's report comes from the centre of Chamonix town. Chamonix has a wide variety of shops which cater for almost all tastes and styles.

It’s been an amazing week skiing. Heavy snowfall on Sunday night and more on Monday meant that there was at least a foot of fresh powder in town and more up the hill. Tuesday dawned bright and blue and I had the best day’s skiing of my life. With more snow forecast tomorrow and Saturday, low temperatures, light winds and less people, conditions only look set to improve.

Although bad weather affected some of the events this summer on the whole it has been a good few months in Chamonix.

The snow is disappearing fast in Chamonix and as a result Les Houches has been forced to close early but there are still some good runs in Grand Montets and Brevent.

As Les Houches closes all but its last piste we wanted to post this video in memory of a great season at the DC Area 43 park in Les Houches.

Jonathan is at the start of the Aiguille de Midi lift, the highest cable car in Europe. He talks about the recent snowfall, but how in spite of this there are a lot of open crevasses on the Vallee Blanche. Conditions are excellent throughout the Valley, however.

Although the season is coming to a close this week we have enjoyed all that the mountains have to offer with great snow on and off piste, clear skies and a day down in the new park in Les Houches.

We haven't had any fresh new snow this week but the temperatures have risen and some of the south facing slopes have become quite soft. There is still plenty of good skiing in Le Tour and Le Grand Montets, which is where I went this week. Conditions over in Brevent and Flegere asre also still pretty good but the South facing runs in Flegere are definitely better in the morning before they get too soft.

It's early season and the skiing conditions in the valley are great. Though not today up at Grands Montets, where it's pretty much a white out.

Catch up with Tom in Chamonix town centre; it's the 9th of July, town is packed and the sales are in full swing. The lifts are starting to close down in Chamonix and Marie has all the closing times. As the summer is coming to an end this will be the last video report of the summer 2011 so we thought we'd have a look back at some of our favourite moments from the last three months.

The 2011 North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc produced a few more surprises than in previous years.

Follow the trails around Chamonix with a bunch of guys giving a helmet-cam perspective on some of the routes to be found.

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No it's a mechanical digger that walks backwards up the mountain to release water from the pocket under the Tête Rousse glacier.

Norwegian Espen Fadnes is the guy behind the infamous Brevent wingsuit jump earlier this summer. The video of the jump known as 'Rockstar' became a huge internet sensation - 400,000 views in a fortnight! The jump is an extremely technical one and somewhat controversially has now been closed by the Mayor of Chamonix for safety reasons.

Head up early to catch the start of the action tomorrow. Take the Flegere cable car and head up l'Index chairlift, or make you way over from Brevent.

With all this snow in Chamonix we are starting to think more and more about the winter and al the excitement it brings.
