The sun is still shining but thunderstorms on Friday do threaten what could be a great weekend. The 10th Rock Climbing World Championships are taking place in Chamonix this weekend with climbers from all over the world coming to town to challenge the laws of physics and show that gravity is a guideline rather than a rule.
There will be competitions for both speed and technical climbers on Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday final coincides with the MBC's annual beer festival here in Chamonix - Cham'Biere - where local brewers will show off their fermentations in town until the party finishes at 6am. So whether your sport is speed climbing or speed drinking you will be well catered for this weekend in Chamonix.
