New Years Eve 2009

Imprint
Updated

On Christmas Eve Father Christmas arrived to fireworks in the Tourist Office square and the town is still buzzing with festive cheer.

All the restaurants and bar’s have been busy all week and are gearing themselves up for a big New Years Eve... it's a great time to be in Chamonix. It’s been an unseasonably warm past week and the freezing level has been as high as 2500m. The avalanche risk is considerable, it is currently 4/5 and unadvisable to venture off-piste without a guide.Last Tuesday night saw the running of the FIS Men’s nocturnal slalom race and the rainy conditions did not put of the crowd. Maxime Tissot won with Julien Lizeroux from La Plagne (a real medal hope for France at the forthcoming Winter Olympics) coming 4th.Happy 2010 to you all.
