Chamonix Video Report: 6th January 2016, Les Grands Montets

Changes to the top of the pistes from the top of Grands Montets

Imprint
By Ellie Mahoney, Updated

Changes have needed to be made to the access to the piste leading towards the Argentiere glacier from the top cable car at Grands Montets, thanks to two large crevasses in the normal route down.

A steep, narrow chute with netting to one side has been built to avoid you going down the normal way, instead this route takes you right, and the rejoins the piste a short distance on.

Further down the piste (not shown on the video) as you come back around to the north facing side of the mountain is another similar steep, narrow, roped off section. This opens out into quite a mogulled area, so be warned, if you're not a confident skier or snowboarder, maybe just stay lower down the mountain instead!
