Montenvers & the Mer de Glace
This week's report comes from the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice), France's largest glacier and one of the biggest tourist attractions in Chamonix.
The Mer de Glace can be reached by taking a 25 minute ride on the Montenvers train from the centre of town. The little red train celebrates its 100th birthday this year and there have been special events taking pace all summer in recognition of the centenary.
