Nestled just off to the right of the main gondola at Le Tour is La Vormaine ski area, a beginner's ski area with four lifts.
Nestled at the top of the valley of Chamonix Mont-Blanc (Le Tour), at an elevation of 1,500m, the Ducroz family and their team welcome you to La Vormaine ski resort. Since 1957, four generations of skiers, local Chamoniards and visitors worldwide, have enjoyed the experience of skiing at the foot of the glaciers with a stunning view of the Mont Blanc mountain range.
Skiing in La Vormaine area of Le Tour is perfect for beginners with its flattish wide-open pistes. The ‘espace ludique’ is free to use and if a one-day pass charge is nominal compared to the rest of the area.
You have access to four button lifts of varying lengths which lead to two green pistes, a blue and a freestyle area, perfect if you’re skiing for the first time or with young children. There is also a magic carpet.
You can buy your ski pass for this area directly at the office on the slope.
A snack bar can be found on site as well as a children's only area which is managed by the local ESF ski school.
Le Tour and La Vormaine can be reached best by car, as the train only takes you as far as Montroc. It takes around 25 minutes to drive here from the centre of Chamonix, or alternatively you can take one of the local buses which will also take around 30 minutes from the town centre. Good to factor in some extra travel time if you're staying in central Chamonix and you need to get little ones to ski school at La Vormaine during peak season.

Le Tour is a small, quaint little village at the far end of the Chamonix valley in the 'Domaine de la Balme' area with access to some great hiking and mountain bike trails.
The Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve was created in 1974 and is a bio-diverse area of around 16,000 hectares with spectacular views of the Col des Montets. There is an information centre where you can find out about the animals and plants of the area and buy a drink or snack.

In March, the Unlimited Festival brings ravers to the mountains while Musilac Mont Blanc takes place a month later. At the end of July, the Cosmo Jazz Festival hosts concerts all around the valley.
