South-facing mountain with amazing views of the Mont Blanc massif which sits across the valley
Brévent is the closest summer lift to the centre of Chamonix and its impressive rocky summit rises to 2,525m above sea level.
You can access the mid station at 1,999m either by the Plan Praz gondola or on foot, up the steep zig-zagging path that's visible from the town centre otherwise known as the vertical kilometre.
From mid station you can take the Brévent cable car straight to the top of the mountain and start various hikes from there or just take in the incredible views as you look across to the Mont Blanc massif.
Each summer professional and amateur runners alike tackling the vertical kilometre - a race that starts in Chamonix town centre and involves people racing up the steep walking path to the mid station.

Depending on when you see them will depend on what festive entertainment you will enjoy.
The local Chamonix ice hockey team, the Pionniers, play in France's Ligue Magnus, the first division. See them battle against other national teams at Chamonix's ice rink.
The best electronic music acts on breathtaking mountain stages all over the Mont Blanc range. More than just a long weekend, the Unlimited Festival is six days full of DJs, parties and events both on the mountain and in town.
You can dine in one of the mountain restaurants like the Bergerie de Plan Praz at mid station or the Panoramic at the top of the Brévent. From either location you'll be able to enjoy the amazing views.
At an altitude of 2000m facing the Mont-Blanc massif, welcome to their restaurant, La Bergerie de Planpraz.
Bighorn Bistro in Chamonix Sud is known for its homemade American-style comfort food, from stacked burgers to freshly baked desserts. You can pair your meal with a craft beer or one of their creative cocktails. With friendly service and a laid-back atmosphere, it’s a favourite with both locals and visitors, offering generous portions, warm hospitality, and a menu that consistently delivers hearty, satisfying flavours after a day on the mountain or during a relaxed evening out.
This tastefully refurbished restaurant and bar are right in the heart of Chamonix on the popular Avenue Michel Croz, close to the train station.
Situated in La Folie Douce Hotel, enjoy a delicious meal after a morning on the slopes with family or friends.
Using high-quality ingredients and traditional methods, these pizzas are made with a sourdough crust prepared from mother yeast, two flours, sea salt, water and extra virgin olive oil, then left to rise for at least 72 hours for light, easy digestion. They use San Marzano and Yellow Datterini tomatoes and the freshest fior di latte mozzarella. With sustainability in mind, only a couple of organic meat options are offered, keeping the menu thoughtful and delicious.
Whether you’re hungry or thirsty after a day on the mountain, Big Mountain Bar has you sorted. Settle into the relaxed bar area or soak up the sunshine from the terrace.
Plan Praz mid station offers a great view point for Mont Blanc, and is also a popular take off spot for many paragliders in both winter and summer.
From the very top of Brévent you can follow the footpath to the Aiguillette des Houches via the Bel Lachat mountain hut, trek further afield across to Samoëns, across to Flégère via the connecting cable car, or walk back down to the mid station, taking in the views on the way. The Plaques du Brévent climbing spot is accessible from here too.
In summer the liaison cable car between Brévent and Flégère does not operate, but then that's what the hiking trails are there for!
Chamonix's own Cinema VOX is situated right in the centre of town, slightly tucked back on the Place Balmat (main square in the centre). There are three recently refurbished screens equipped with digital 3D projectors show the latest French and International films, as well as a number of premieres and specialist mountain-sports films.
'The best photo class you will ever take', is Teresa's bold strapline for her unique photo walk classes, which take place in the incredible outdoors of the Chamonix Valley and offer an opportunity to photograph the major mountains and viewpoints.
Off-piste snowshoe outings where you can discover the charm and serenity of the Chamonix Valley on foot.
This company's sole activity is tandem paragliding, so they are 100 % focused on you and your flight. Their fully qualified pilots have vast experience and have done 1,000s of flight in the Chamonix Valley.

Getting to the bottom of Plan Praz and Brévent is easy - either take one of the local buses, drive up to the large car park or walk up the short hill from the town centre.
You'll find the hill on the roundabout behind the Hotel Mont Blanc at the back of the tourist office.
You can buy tickets directly from the lift station or buy a Mont Blanc Multi-pass in advance on line. Don't forget if you only want to go to the mid station, you need the Plan Praz ticket. Brévent tickets are for accessing the mid station and the very top cable car.
