Mountain restaurant at the Brevent mid-station

Featured in: | Updated

Located at the Brevent mid-station, at the top of the Planpraz gondola, this beautiful mountain restaurant has one of the best views of the Mont Blanc range in the valley.

Enjoy a gourmet meal in one of the best mountain restaurants in Chamonix with an amazing view of the Mont Blanc range.

Their menu is based on regional cuisine and includes Boîte Chaude (baked cheese) served with assorted cold meats, grilled entrecote, salads, farmstead cheese and, most importantly, a traditional wild blackcurrant tart. Their menu is changed regularly to offer seasonal ingredients, and they also offer a delicious vegan menu.

The restaurant is open every day from mid-December to mid-April and from the end of June to mid-September when the lifts are running. You can prepare your visit in advance by reserving a table directly on the restaurant's website or via their Facebook page. It is also possible to book La Bergerie for evening events.

For those who would prefer a quick snack or takeaway instead, the Comptoir de Planpraz offers tartiflette, crepes, homemade burgers and a variety of hot & cold sandwiches. They also have regular live music and entertainment.

Worth knowing

The restaurant has been awarded the title of Maitre Restaurateur since 2014, which recognises excellence and commitment to quality. It also certifies that the cuisine is made on the spot with fresh and local products.

Why not treat someone to the ALTIBOX Gift Voucher which includes lunch for 2 people and can be redeemed in different mountain restaurants in the valley: The 3842 at the top of Aiguille du Midi, l'Adret (Flégère), La Bergerie de Planpraz (Brévent) or La Table de Plan Joran (Grands Montets).

Visitor comments

"A good day the view is unbeatable. You can see most of the Chamonix valley and most of the peaks including Mont Blanc. We had very good service and very tasy food. A favourite place in the alpes. Maybe a bit overpiced, but afterall it is 1000m up in the alps from Chamonix." - Trip Advisior
