This winter has got off to one of the best starts of the past few years, a week of heavy snow and low cloud has given way to blue skies and fresh powder. Yesterday brought us perfect conditions to get our ski legs back in shape with a mountain skills session hosted by Arc'teryx.
We were met at Le Tour car park by ski instructor Rachel Kerr and mountain guides Isabelle Santoire and Ulrika Asp - a nice international mix of Scottish, French and Swedish! We had a quick check that everyone had the right equipment before heading up the gondola to Charamillon, where the wind was whipping icy blasts across the mid-station. A chilly ride on the Autannes chairlift and a quick scoot along the cat-track took us to the Liaison Balme piste, where we were nicely sheltered from the wind.
