Chamonix Apres-Ski Report: 27 December 2013

The snow might not be spot on yet but you can never go wrong with Apres

The season is now well and truly underway in Chamonix and so is the Apres Ski. No Limits are back in Chambre Neuf again this season and naturally I have been to check it out a few times…

They have certainly not lost any of their magic and it seems to be busier than ever this year with crowd surfing already in full swing. The band play from Sunday – Friday, starting off with more mellow tunes such as ‘Message in a Bottle – Sting’, ‘Could You Be Love – Bob Marley’ and ‘Save Tonight – Eagle Eye Cherry’ and building up to some rock classics in the second set that always get the crowd jumping around (‘Enter Sandman - Metallica’, ‘Use Somebody – Kings of Leon’, ‘Pretender – Foo Fighters’ ‘and ‘Run to the Hills – Iron Maiden’). As ever they have different songs every night. Just some of their new tunes include ‘Blurred Lines – Robin Thicke’, ‘I Love It – Icona Pop’ and No Limits’ base player, Karl, is now preforming ‘Hey I Just Met You Call Me Maybe’ which is already a Chamonix classic.

Chambre Neuf is not the only place to go for live music though. Bar’d Up have a number of different musicians preforming for you regularly with instrumental, relaxed indie from Eleanor Clarkson and more rocky tunes from James Dolan. And if you fancy yourself as a bit of singer, there is Singstar every Wednesday from 10:30p.m. You can also get your music fix from Munster Bar in Chamonix Sud or pop along to one of their quiz nights.

We have also checked out the Mega Apres Ski at the newly refurbished bar and restaurant La Lucarne. They delivered an awesome outdoor party with beer and vin chaud flowing as well as beats blaring. DJ Phil G (aka the Bull) warmed the crowd with endless party tunes coming from the Caraboom - a fully renovated disco caravan complete with decks and an amazing sound and lighting system. The continuous light snow that fell throughout the evening was illuminated with multicoloured lasers, providing the perfect backdrop for the Techno and House soundtrack.

This was the perfect taster of what the Lucarne and the Caraboom have to offer, ahead of NYE:LATE's Futur/Disco party on New Year's Eve. Get yourself down to the Ice Rink for 2 rooms, Futur and Disco, and a whole host of DJs giving you two totally different ambiences to see in 2014.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our What's On Calendar for all the latest events and share your Apres pictures with us.. details of how to on our Social page.
