Bar'd Up

Après-ski pub with live music, sports and outdoor terrace on Chamonix's oldest street

featured in Bars & clubs Updated

Bar'd Up is the last port of call along the famous Rue des Moulins and a bit of a Chamonix institution. A dark, noisy and slightly grungy contrast to the swanky bars that line the party street in the centre of Chamonix.

It's quite often labelled an Australian bar and it has a definite beach shack element to the interior, with surfboards on the wall and an anything-goes atmosphere that ensures the night often turns out messier than planned.

Bar'd Up has a warm and friendly atmosphere, with an international staff behind the bar. The laid-back attitude means that there is no dress code, so wear what you like and take it easy. They don't serve food but you are welcome to get takeaway from the place opposite and bring it in.

If you're looking for somewhere to watch the match then Bar'd Up has several screens inside and during the summer they even put a big screen on the terrace so you can watch the Euros or World Cup games in the sun. When there isn't a sports match on you can play table football or have a game of darts.

Bar'd Up often has live music and/or DJs on some nights of the week, check out the blackboard outside to find out what they have lined up. When they're not you can have a go at entertaining the punters yourself on Singstar (free shot if you're brave enough to give it a go!) or by joining in at one of their regular open-mic nights.

Open every day 15:00 - 02:00.
