Spanish trail runner and alpinist Kilian Jornet has confirmed via Facebook on Wednesday, June 20th, that he will be taking place in the 2018 Marathon du Mont Blanc, just three months after fracturing his fibula.

The prestigious Chamonix event takes place on July 1st, with Jornet taking part in the 42km race, opting to avoid the 90km event this year. In his Facebook statement, Jornet says "I have start [sic] to feel ok training in running so I think it is time to start racing again."

All going well, the Spaniard plans to return to Chamonix to take part in the gruelling Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc at the end of August. Jornet is the winner of the 2017 Marathon du Mont Blanc, as well as three-time winner of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.
