Things are on track for the winter...

featured in News & reviews Author Pam Williamson, Chamonix Editor Updated

In a statement released by the Compagnie du Mont Blanc on Friday 26th September, they stated that the works for the new gondola at Plan Joran are on schedule...for the time being!

"The work on the Plan Joran gondola which began on 5th May last continues to progress normally with due respect of the environment as planned at each stage of the work. The line of pylons is now up as previewed (around the halfway stage of the planned calendar) i.e. around 27th August. As of today (Friday 26th September), the civil engineering elements are all completed. The two stations, in mechanical terms, are approximately 80% completed & the departure station is roofed over. The installation of the cable, planned to take around 4 to 5 weeks (including the splicing & first pressure tests) may now begin.

The second phase of the building work may also begin as will the mechanical installation of the cabin hangar. This hangar or cabin garage is of specific conception because it has to be modular, capable of embracing the welcome zone for clients & the waiting lines.

The overall project of the Plan Joran gondola includes the dismantling of the Plan Roujon chairlift, the lengthening of the Tabé chairlift and the consequent modification of its access to the Arolles trail. These transformations are either underway or already completed."
