Despite the weather and storms that have hit the valley this summer (is it summer?!), the building of the new lift at Grands Montets continues.

As mentioned in the previous report there were plans to remove the Plan Roujon chair, the chair that most locals in the valley will know as the one that gives us such good access to that playground that is the 'magic forest'...on a white out day this has always been the popular place to go to find fresh powder and decent visibility. It has now been completely removed.

Other work going on right now includes the ongoing process of putting in the foundations for the pylons, several of which are already in place lower down and also at the top station which is situated well above the original chair that it is replacing. As far as we can tell (without hiking up to it!) they are laying the foundations for the top station although have not yet begun the actual building at the moment.

At the base station work is still under way to complete the gondola housing and adjoining building and we noticed significant progress here from our photos in Part 4. Take a look at our facebook page to see more photos of the progress to date.
