Lognan Lift Watch Part 5

Removal of two lifts to make way for the new gondola

By Ellie Mahoney, Updated

A small update today as the work continues to build the new gondola at Grands Montets.

The old Plan Joran chair lift as we know is being removed, but a second chair lift, the Plan Roujon will also be taken down.

The Plan Roujon, as the picture above shows, is the chair lift that starts on the far side of the Plan Joran restaurant and meets the top of the Retour Pendant lift which brings you back up from the Lavancher bowl.

Concrete was being laid last week for pylons for the new lift, of which there will be 17 in total, carrying the 84 gondola cabins up the mountain at a rate of 6m per second.

The work is expected to cost 10.6 million euros.
