The longest running inter-resort competition in the Alps celebrated it's 20th birthday this year and we were there to cheer on the teams from Chamonix, Val d'Isere, Courchevel, Meribel, Verbier and Zermatt and have a wee chat with hot-dogging hero Glen Plake.

The Mont Blanc Marathon weekend takes place in Chamonix every year at the end of June. For two days Chamonix is host to runners from all over the world who come to take part in the various races.

The 2012 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc saw bad weather with snow up top and heavy showers at the bottom, as such the course was cut short to only 100kms. This year North Face managed to stream the race live using a series of webcams along the course and live video was diffused on Ultratrail.tv

After terrible weather, cancellation and heartbreak the 2010 UTMB was won by Brits Jez Bragg and Lizzie Hawker.

The 2011 North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in Chamonix was a real test for all the runners. Postponed and modified due to bad weather the race took the runners through rain, hail and snow before the sun came out.

The 2013 Telemark World Cup featured over 100 telemark skiers from 14 different countries, the cup consisted of a 'Classic Sprint' on the Planards piste followed by a 'Classic Slalom' over in Les Houches.

This year’s World Climbing Championship weekend was another incredible event in the Chamonix calendar. Although bad weather on the Saturday meant that the programme had to be altered, nothing dampened the spirits of the crowds who gathered or the athletes who were, quite simply, astonishing.
