After a very hot and humid weekend of trail running, the 2017 Marathon du Mont Blanc has come to a close and the salon has already been packed up and moved on.

With a heatwave sweeping across Europe in the past week, Friday & Saturday's trail runners had to contend with some pretty scorching conditions, and dusty, baked hard trails.

By Sunday, an overnight storm had cooled temperatures from the low to mid thirties °C to more manageable mid 20's, which must have come as a relief to the two thousand competitors of the 42km marathon race.

Friday's race results

80km Results
On Friday, the 80km race set off at 04:00 and the first man over the line was Xavier Thevenard (FRA) at 15:03 in a time of 11:03:05. The fastest woman was Mimmi Kotkas, who crossed the line at 16:59, in 12:59:51. A huge well done to our Morzine reporter Alice Gregr, who completed the race in 20 hours and 18th in her age category and Jacques Belissent, who finished in 21:58:48. Full 80km results.

Vertical KM
Also on Friday, the Vertical kilometre race was run by Yoann Sert (FRA) in 36 minutes 25. The fastest woman was Laura Orgue-Vila who finished in 42:48 and followed up by winning the 23km on Saturday too. Well done to Jared Macfarland (USA) who finished in 1:24:52. Full KMV results.

Saturday's race results

23km Results
The Cross or 23km race was won by Dmitry Mityaev in 02:14:31, with the fastest woman Laura Orgue-Vila (SPA) who also won the Vertical KM on Friday, finishing in 02:45:11. A huge well done to Chris Richard & George Long who finished in identical times of 03:51:38, and Nicola Henderson who finished in 03:58:14. 23km Full results.

10km Results
This race was won by Gael Reynolds (FRA) in 41:36 and the fastest woman was Rachel Drake (USA) in 47:32. Well done to Naomi Swickard (USA) who finished in 01:38:07. 10km Full results.

Sunday's race results

42km Results
Sunday's main event the 42km was won by Kilian Jornet (SPA) in a time of 3:45:45. The fastest woman was Megan Kimmel (USA) who finished in 04:40:36. Kilian Jornet had also won the Marathon in 2012 with a time of 03:38:24, in 2013 with a time of 03:30:41. 42km Full results.

Duo Étoilé
This race was postponed until Sunday morning due to bad weather on Saturday night. The race was won by French team Dider Roy & Aurélien Charity in a time of 01:54:46. Duo Full results.

Young Marathon (15km)
The race was won by Antoine Charvolin (FRA) in 01:28:08 with the fastest woman crossing the line in 01:57:54. Full Young marathon results.
