The Swatch Freeride World Tour by The North Face has arrived here in Chamonix and Freeride World Tour TV have created this great little package with some of the Chamonix riders - Aurelien Ducroz, Jonathan Charlet and Leo Slemett.

February was dominated by the Alpine Skiing World Championships, held every second year, which kicked off in St Moritz on 6th February. Over 13 days, 589 athletes from 76 countries competed in eleven competitions in front of 165,000 spectators.

The warm weather has brought the lycra warriors out of hibernation and summer race training has now begun in earnest. 

In little under two weeks the first runners in the UTMB series of races will be heading off on a journey of 290km, as they embark on the Petite Trotte à Léon, the first of the UTMB races to take place.

The 2011 North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in Chamonix was a real test for all the runners. Postponed and modified due to bad weather the race took the runners through rain, hail and snow before the sun came out.

After terrible weather, cancellation and heartbreak the 2010 UTMB was won by Brits Jez Bragg and Lizzie Hawker.

The Mont Blanc Marathon weekend takes place in Chamonix every year at the end of June. For two days Chamonix is host to runners from all over the world who come to take part in the various races.

July brings with it all sorts of sporting events. This year we have the EURO 2016 hosted in France at the start of the month, the annual tennis tournamant at Wimbledon and Formula 1 action at Silverstone, Budapest and Hockenheim.

With summer here, there is a whole host of events this month in Chamonix.

After four exciting days of racing in the Alps, Chris Froome emerged victorious in Paris for the third win of his career. Equalling the records of Philippe Thys, Louison Bobet and Greg LeMond who all have three Tour wins under their belts, and becoming Britain's first three-time winner.

With less than a month left before the ski lifts reopen and, whilst thoughts naturally turn to the snowy slopes, the start of the season also brings a wealth of “extra-curricular” entertainments to keep you feeling good during your stay.

Professional Skiers & Snowboarders put their bodies through alot. This episode looks at the injuries Freestyle Team GB have suffered and the road to recovery and the Olympics.

The lifts are preparing to open and the Christmas holidays are on the horizon.
