The results of the 2014 Piolets d'Or were announced in Courmayeur, awarding Ueli Steck and Raphael Slawinsky & Ian Welsted for their mountaineering efforts.
The two ascents were the NW Face of K6 climbed by Raphael Slawinsky and Ian Welsted and the South Face of Annapurna climbed solo by Ueli Steck.
The jury gave a special mention for the second ascent of the Steck route, on Annapurna by Stéphane Benoist and Yannick Graziani.
As ever the Piolets d'Or is more of a celebration of the mountaineering spirit than the awards - so a big congratulations goes out to all nominees.
