L'Impossible Restaurant Review

Italian Restaurant Serving Gourmet Organic Cuisine

Location
Chamonix
Imprint
By Robin Deering, Updated

L'Impossible was originally created by a local steep skier who, after having skied some impossibly difficult lines, decided on this very apt name for his restaurant. The restaurant has since been taken over by a charming Italian family who are setting a prime example of how to satisfy your taste-buds in fine fettle.

The cadre is simple and authentic; an old candlelit farmhouse dating back to 1754 which accommodates a fair few tables, and even on an out-of-season Friday night, the restaurant was pleasantly busy (always a good sign!).

At our table the Menu du Marche was a popular choice and not just for its affordable price. We received an amuse-bouche, starter, main and dessert which came to just €29 per head.
In addition to the flavoursome amuse-bouche, we were treated to a breadbasket filled with delicious fougasse maison and wholesome grissini.

Saving the best until last, the natural desserts (no sugar, eggs, cream butter and milk) were simply splendid, so much so that we felt compelled to call the chef out to satisfy our curiosity, which he was more than willing to do - another sign of a business that seeks to put its customers first.
Both owner Auro Bucci and Chef Luca Leonildi came over to explain not just how they create such perfect desserts without all the 'good' stuff, but also to highlight their approach to food and nutrition. Sworn to secrecy, we can't give away any of their secrets unfortunately.

On our table of 7 we had meat-eaters, a vegetarian, a sweet-toothed teenager and other foodie fans. L'Impossible scored an even 7/7.
