On Saturday evening the Chamonix mountain rescue service got a call for two alpinists in need of assistance on the north face of the Aiguille du Midi, to their surprise it was über-ultra runner and mighty mountaineer Kilian Jornet!

Kilian and his female climbing partner were on the Frendo spur of the north face when they resolved to call for rescue, the pair had lost a lot of time on making their way up the wrong route and by the end of the day they were not well-enough equipped for the colder temperatures.
The PGHM were forced to issue a rescue team by foot as the closing weather did not allow for a helicopter rescue.

Kilian has publicly thanked the professional and effiecent services of the Chamonix PGHM.
