Houses Flooded in Champraz After Dam Bursts at the Lake
6 homes flooded as the lake poured into the surrounding area
Residents had a rather wet awakening overnight on Tuesday as the dame broke at the lake in ChamPraz and flooded surrounding houses.
The alarm was raised at around 3am as people realised water was rising quickly in their houses, waking them up as it reached their beds. Some reports say around 40-50cm of water suddenly inundated the surrounding garages, and apartments as the lake emptied around three quarters of its contents very quickly.
Around 30 fire-fighters were called out to try and pump away the water, and the situation was brought under control with things getting back to normal around lunchtime yesterday.
One resident told the Dauphine that he even found a trout in his garden!
