Popular Lunchtime Restaurant Serving Good Value Dishes

Most people know Chambre Neuf for it's apres-ski, which is largely regarded as the best apres-ski in the Chamonix valley. With a live band playing every afternoon and hundreds of people dancing on the tables you would be forgiven for overlooking Chambre Neuf as a great place for lunch.

At lunchtime the bar is made up as a simple but elegant restaurant offering a fresh menu to cater for all tastes. As usual, I went for the lucky dip approach and chose the 'plat du jour' which was a breaded pork schnitzel served with roast potatoes, peas and a creamy mushroom sauce. Daily specials are often made with cheap cuts of meat but not here, the meat was wonderfully tender and cooked beautifully. The main dish was accompanied by a fresh side salad and for a total cost just over 10 Euros making this the tastiest and best value lunch I've had this year!

Whether you live in Chamonix or are here on holiday make sure you visit Chambre Neuf for the wild apres-ski, but don't forget that it is also one of the best places for a lunchtime bite to eat.
