At around 11:00 this morning, an avalanche occurred in the Nant Pcheu area near the Brevent in Chamonix.

The slide created a huge powder cloud that took some time to disperse but once it had cleared the PGHM helicopter searched the area to check for victims using a combination of DVA and Recco detector technologies. It is thought that no skiers were caught in the avalanche.

For more information on the current avalanche risk in Chamonix, be sure to check the local avalanche bulletin.
