Aiguille du Midi Lift Replacements at the end of Summer

Two lifts to replace the one currently in use at the top of the Aiguille

Compagnie du Mont Blanc have announced plans to replace the lift that takes you to the Step into the Void and the Terrace Mont Blanc at 3,842m.

It's going to be a challenge, not only because of the altitude and limited space, but because they're replacing one lift with two.

Lift company Schindler have won the contract and the work is estimated to take around 6 months to complete.

Work is due to start on 15th September 2014, so if you want to experience the Step into the Void this side of Christmas then you'll have to be quick! (Or if you don't have a head for heights, have a look at my 360 degree photos from up there instead).
