Micro-brewery serving great burgers and nachos plus pub-food classics
Known locally as the MBC, this bar and restaurant is a totally original hang-out for Chamonix. Set up in 2002 by four Canadians with a passion for beer, all of their highly regarded real ales and lagers are brewed in house using pure Chamonix water.
As part of the experience, you can also enjoy authentic world flavour cooking as there is a full restaurant menu available. On offer are 'pub-food' classics, done to a high standard, including fantastic nachos, onion rings or salads for starters. However, this restaurant is famous for being home to Chamonix's only 'Canadian Hamburger' which, probably quite rightly, lays claim to being one of the best burgers in town!
Also on the menu are chicken, lamb and veggie burgers accompanied by regular or "criss-cross" fries, grilled entrecote, quesadilla and Canada's most celebrated local dish - poutine (chips, cheese & gravy). They also run regular food promo nights such as half-price chicken wings on a Monday, fish 'n' chips Friday and Thursday is BBQ ribs night. Portions are massive and will satisfy any appetite, desserts barely get a look in - especially as they brew their own 'liquid desserts' in the vats behind the bar, which are typically the most tempting!
Being slightly out of town, this restaurant thrives on its great reputation for excellent beer and food as well as lively entertainment. There are often great live bands playing here during apres-ski and in the evenings.
It's decked out in part with the fermentation tanks and vessels behind the bar, and resembles what you would imagine a Canadian pub to look like. One thing is for certain there is a lively buzz inside - no doubt merrily fuelled by the contents of those barrels!
Food is available from 16:00 to 23:00 every day with an additional brunch menu served from 10:00 to 12:00 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, incase you're feeling a little "delicate" over the weekend. Bar is open til 01:00 daily.
