Tricky to headline 'Musiques en Stock' festival in Cluses

featured in News & Reviews Author Caroline Face, Updated

Who'd have thought Cluses would get such a big name at their outdoor music festival this year, but we've seen the press release so there you go!

We just love Musiques en Stock. It's been running for a few years now and involves the big square just by the Maison des Allobroges right in the town centre being transformed with a mahoosive outdoor stage and full sound, lighting and big screen set up.

This year the festival takes place every evening from Wednesday the 1st July through to Saturday the 4th July and is totally free!! What's not to love?

Tricky, who has been billed under his real name of Adrian Thaws, was part of the Bristol sound of the early 90s and came to prominence when, as part of the Wild Bunch, he rapped on Massive Attack's seminal 'Blue Lines' album. He then went solo releasing the well-received album 'Maxinquaye'.

Things then went a bit awry as Tricky became more disillusioned with the press and the music business and his music went off on a punky tangent. His last album release was in 2008 with 'Knowle West Boy'. The album tells the story of his growing up on the Knowle West estate in Bristol and is an eclectic mix of all his musical styles and influences.

We, personally, can't wait to see Tricky (who, as it happens pub quiz fans, is Finlay Quaye's uncle!) live on stage in Cluses. The full line up is currently as follows:

Wednesday 1st July:
Arpad Flynn (rock)
Les Decibelles (punk rock)
Jolga (folk rock)
Mama Rosin (rock)

Thursday 2nd July:
Headknocker (rock-reggae)
Adam Kesher (electro rock)
Stuck in the Sound (rock)
Fiction Plane (rock)

Friday 3rd July:
Lord Fester Combo (rock)
The Young Gods (rock industrial)
Get Well Soon (indie rock)
Tricky (Bristol dude!)

Saturday 4th July:
Les Decouvertes (local band)
NightBuzz (folk)
Narrow Terrence (pop)
Herman Dune (folk rock)
Calexico (rock)

See you in the mosh pit...well probably not, as we're a bit old for that kind of thing now...
