Tournette Renovation to Become Artist Studio
La villa de la Tournette to become recording studio for 'Made in Chamonix' albums
The historic and curreently derelict Villa de la Tournette in Chamonix is to be renovated and transformed into an artist recordingstudio under the guidance of Andre Manoukian.
The Parc Couttet in Chamonix has had a lonely few years in the recent history of Chamonix since the property and grounds were purchased by the local town council in 1999.
At the back of the park grounds stands the fabulous Villa de la Tournette, built by Joseph Couttet, Chamonix alpinist and mayor circa 1905, and once home to Maurice Herzog the mayor of Chamonix from 1968 to 1977.
This building has long been discussion of various projects and it's Andre Manoukian's idea to turn it into an artist studio which has won the bid.
Andre, famous for his Cosmo Jazz festival in Chamonix, has secured the bid with €300,000 of funding to convert the villa into a recording studio with an auditorium.
The renovation works are expected to take up to three years and are not due to start until the new year.
