featured in News & Reviews Author Alison Shayler, Chamonix Reporter Updated

The Tramway du Mont Blanc will be making Mont Lachat it's last stop while important maintenance work is carried out to ensure the safety of the track.

Mont Lachat is after the Col de Voza and Bellevue stops, which are where many people disembark for hiking and mountain biking routes. However, it is before the final Nid d'Aigle stop, which is the starting point for Alpinists attempting to summit Mont Blanc.

The maintenance work is to prevent rock falls and land slides between the 2 tunnels at the top of the track, it will be ongoing for the rest of this summer and into summer 2012.

Mountain professionals are working to ensure that the maintenance work will not interfere with sports and leisure activities.
