New restaurant, Le Cap Horn, opens tonight in Chamonix

Tonight sees the opening of new restaurant, Le Cap Horn, in Chamonix. Located on the Rue des Moulins, it offers three unique experiences in one.

Owners, Wim Robberse and Laurence Claret-Tournier, have carefully renovated the building that once housed Cybar, Dick's Tea Bar and The Queen Vic. Damaged by fire some years ago, the building has been lovingly redesigned to house the three distinct and contemporary venues.

The main restaurant, Le Cap-Horn, offers contemporary cuisine. Seafood takes the starring role on the menu and the décor takes its inspiration from both the sea and, unsurprisingly, the mountains. French windows open onto a large, perfectly exposed terrace. A mezzanine above the main room provides a more intimate setting.

The second concept, Le Cap-Blanc, is essentially a sushi bar, serving maki, sushi and other Asian specialities. The relaxed, minimalist setting was inspired by the Orient.

Head to the lower level to visit Les Caves du Pèle. This wine bar has separate access and is not restricted to diners. It is a great spot to while away an evening, with DJs providing the music and ambience. It also perfectly located for anyone eating in the restaurants, who wants a change of environment for a pre or post dinner drink.

Wim and Laurence are the duo responsible for perennial favourites, La Caleche, offering traditional Savoyard food, and La Cabane, the restaurant at the golf club in Les Praz.
