A French climber died yesterday after falling 600m on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.

The 43 year old man from Toulon set off from the Refuge de Monzino yesterday morning and began an ascent of the Paroi des Eccles, between Mont Blanc de Courmayeur and Aiguille Blanche de Peuteray.

The cause of the accident has not been confirmed but the climber fell around 600m to his death. His body has been recovered from the Glacier du Freney.
