Although it's month before the first lifts start to open here in the Alpes those in need of a snow fix or even just some new gloves will find plenty of ski and snowboard entertainment in the coming weeks.

The London Ski Show opens tomorrow in Olympia. Now in it's 38th year this is the UK's largest ski show with stalls from some of the biggest retailers of ski and snowboard equipment, competitions featuring some of the UK's best riders and bars, ice rinks, fashion shows and a job fair.

The busiest days at the ski show are the weekend and there are usually some pretty hefty parties in the evenings some held in the arena and some in the local area.

The ski show is a great way to catch up with old friends from the hills and maybe make some new ones, Ranulph Feinnes and Jenny Jones will be at the show!!!

If you are heading off for a ski holiday or your first season this can raise the levels of excitement to feverish levels.

The same weekend as the ski show is the Rock on Tour in Les Deux Alpes. This is a far more of an active weekend than the ski show in London. There are stalls and exhibitions but the focus is about trying things for yourself. Ski and board manufacturers from all over the world have all of their new equipment for the new winter set up at the foot of France's largest skiable glacier and free tests are available for the weekend.
It's a great weekend and an event I try to get to each year as skiing in France, in October, on the 2 Alpes glacier is a real treat.

A week later is one of the UK's coolest festivals. Entering it's third year the London Freeze, at Battersea Power Station, is a freestyle ski and snowboard music festival like nothing else in Britian. This years line up has some of the planets best skiers and snowboarders as well as music acts so hot the huge real snow kicker at the power station may just melt. Simon Dumont, Jon Olsson and Bobby Brown will represent the skiers alongside other international superstars of snow. For those who stand sideways the heroes in attendance will be Peetu Piiroinen, X-Games Gold medalist Iouri Podladchikov and UK wunderkid Jamie Nicholls.
Playing to the crowds are DJ Yoda, the Scratch Perverts, Roni Size, Mark Ronson and many many more. It's set to be a great weekend in London from the 29th - 31st.
