Wednesday evening saw Chamonet.Com Video Snow Reporter and local author Jonathan Trigell launch his new novel Cham at Gallery Midnight. Introduced by gallery owner and artist Jonny ‘Midnight' Reid, Jonathan read two excerpts from his latest book to a hushed audience. As a Chamonix resident of many years, Jonathan has garnered much local support and the gallery was packed to capacity. MBC supported the event by providing drinks and signed copies of the book were available to buy at the reduced price of €13, with all profits going direct to the author rather than to the plethora of middle-men that usually take a hefty cut.

Jonathan's first novel Boy A was exceptionally well received and won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize as well as being made into a Channel 4 film. Boy A has more recently been shortlisted as World Book Day's Book To Talk About 2008.

Cham is, unsurprisingly, set in Chamonix and is the first serious novel about winter sports. With Cham Jonathan looks set to recreate this success with early reviews being very positive:

"Trigell's ski-bum hedonism does for extreme winter sports what Alex Garland's The Beach did for backpacking" - The Financial Times
