Fatal fall for Chloe Graftiaux on the Mont Blanc Massif

On the Italian side of the Mont Blanc Massif the young Belgian Chloé Graftiaux Wold champion climber fell to her death on Saturday 21st August.

On the Aiguille Noire de Peuterey, Chloé Graftiaux was swept away by a rock fall where she fell 600 metres to her death.
This particular area is known for a relatively easy passage and as such many climbers are not roped up.

The young climber of 23 years old finished 3rd in the World Cup Boulder championship and was 3rd in the IFSC world ranking

Upcoming Events

Chamonix hosts a wide range of sporting events throughout the year. The biggest ones include the Mont Blanc Marathon in June and the UTMB trail running race in August. In March, the Unlimited Festival brings ravers to the mountains while Musilac Mont Blanc takes place a month later. At the end of July, the Cosmo Jazz Festival hosts concerts all around the valley.
