Anyone want a cheap pair of designer sunnies or a dodgy polo shirt?

The customs boys and girls certainly had their fashion wits about them last week, when they stopped a Belgian registered lorry travelling between France and Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel crammed full of fake designer sunglasses.

The haul of 76,800 pairs of sunnies included copies of the latest designer styles from the likes of Gucci, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior. It's believed the designs came straight from the Paris catwalks to the factories in China and back to Europe, with total value of a whopping 19 million euros.

In another incident just before the tunnel, a British lorry was stopped with 2,000 false Ralph Lauren polo shirts.

In both cases, the merchandise was seized and taken to Cluses, where it is set to be destroyed by customs.
