La Cabane des Praz Restaurant, Les Praz interior

2. La Cabane des Praz Restaurant

Location
Chamonix

Located a couple of kilometres outside of Chamonix in the pretty village of Les Praz (next to the golf course and Flégère cable car), this restaurant resembles a traditional and charming log cabin.

Whilst holding fast to its rustic origins with cow skins adorning the floor around the open fire, there are numerous modern, stylish fixtures and touches throughout that can’t help but draw the eye. The designers have incorporated skylight windows in the grass-covered roof (eco-friendly insulation) so that the interior is now bathed with natural light.

A very inviting building; the beautifully styled entrance just draws you in. Once there, if you fancy an apéritif or winter warmer by the fireplace, the staff are more than happy to accommodate whilst you relax on the comfortable seating and watch the flames.

The tempting menu features modern French cuisine and Savoyard favourites. Specialities include girolles mushroom and garlic risotto, pierre chaude, tartiflette, fondue, beef tartare, lobster, snails or duck.

There are set menus, as well as an excellent value midday menu. Take one sunny day, leave Chamonix behind, add a woodland stroll up the river to Le Praz and be rewarded for your efforts at the end of the trail.
