When do the mountain huts open and close for the season?

There are many mountain huts in and around the Chamonix Valley and Mont Blanc region that offer a resting place and sustenance for the weary traveller. A large proportion of them are closed in the winter, although some may still offer shelter for back country tourers and climbers. The seasonal opening and closing dates are governed to a certain extent, by the severity of the winter and how quickly the snow disappears.
