Two Teams Beat the Sun in Yesterdays RaceValley

On the longest day of the year 5 teams tried to 'Beat the Sun' in a race around Mont Blanc

In an attempt to outrun the sun 5 continental teams took on 148 Kilometres and 8350m of ascent with just 15 hours and 41 minutes between sunrise and sunset.

The Asics Beat the Sun event is a relay race where teams try to outrun the sun. Taking off at sunrise their goal was to complete the circuit around the Mont Blanc massif, following the rough trail of the legendary Ultra Trail, before the sun set 15 hours and 41 minutes later.

It was a close race but Team Europe South were pipped at the post, coming in just 5 seconds behind the winners Team Americas. Both teams beat the sun!

Teams Asia, Africa and Northern Europe did not beat the sun but they all completed this mammoth race.
