Sitting on the border between Switzerland and Italy, the Grand Saint Bernard hospice has long been a popular stop off point for motorists and motorcyclists in the summer months.

For some time now the hospice has required a bit of a makeover, and they have managed to accumulate donations in the region of 6.3 million Swiss Francs (5.7m Euros).

Some of this money has already been spent on upgrades to security, energy, electricity and emergency repairs, with 200,000 CHF earmarked for spending on the top two floors of the building, including the restaurant.

Work will be completed by the time the col opens again in May 2016.
