Work has started in the last few days on the new cable car at Grands Montets in Argentiere.

The new gondola is part of the half a billion investment in Chamonix's lift system over the next 5-6 years.

It will replace the Lognan chair lift, which is being dismantled after having been in use since 1986.

The new gondola will carry 3500 people per hour and is set to be in place & operational for this coming winter 2014-15.
