Trade Union improves pay for seasonal resort workers

Jean-Claude Mailly, secretary general of Force Ouvrière, was in Chamonix on Friday for a press conference regarding workers on short term contracts. Along with a number of trade union representatives and employers in the hotel and industry trades, he answered questions from the press relating to pay scales and taxes for seasonal and annual employees.

The press conference resulted in good news for hotel and restaurant employees. As of the 1st July, changes to the tax situation will result in a 2% wage increase for all annual employees and those on a minimum contract of 4 months. Force Ouvrière felt it was important to bring about this change in Chamonix, a town where there are a lot of workers on annual and seasonal contracts, before embarking on a tour of other winter resorts with the same mission.
