Top Planpraz pylon to be removed
The hot potato debate of who is responsible for the concrete Planpraz pylons looks likes it is cooling off.
The Companie du Mont Blanc (CMB) have put forward an offer to demolish the highest concrete pylon to kick-start the process, prove their commitment to the valley and test their demolishing powers!
This is a significant step forward after this winter where the CMB announced they were reluctant to take responsibility of the previous Planpraz pylons - an operation that could cost as much as 3.5 million €uro's.
Whilst the Chamonix town council were not too keen either in assuming responsibility either.
Mathieu Dechavanne, director of the CMB has announced the fist step will take place in September were they will take down a pylon with a top-to-bottom approach.
Mathieu comments: 'This affair has gone to-and-from long enough now, we cannot leave it as it is. If this demolition technique works we can look to work on the remaining pylons. Whatever happens, this needs to be done.'
One down, five to go!
