The remainder of the weekend did not improve for members of the PGHM as they received call outs to several more incidents in the immediate area.

At 10am, a team headed out to assist the client of a guide on the south ridge of the chapelle de la Glière, who had fractured his ankle. Shortly after, a group of eight Japanese found themselves in trouble around the refuge du Gouter when one of the party fell from the ridge just below the refuge itself. It is presumed that they were on their way down from Mont Blanc, when the 68 year old man fell. He was not roped to the remainder of his group and was found dead several hundred metres below. Yesterday evening, a number of other groups got into difficulty on Mont Blanc as the weather closed in. Some managed to make it to the shelter of the Vallot Refuge at 4360m, but others were faced with spending the night out in the elements.

Around 4pm yesterday afternoon another incident happened, this time down in the valley at Les Plannards Leisure Park. A 22 year old employee was seriously hurt after re-opening the summer toboggan run following a rain shower, when his toboggan slipped out the track altogether. He was knocked unconscious and taken to Sallanches hospital in a coma but was later moved to Geneva where his condition is described as serious.

Since this report, the 22 year old employee injured at the summer toboggan track has died in hospital, sending shockwaves around the valley. Guillaume Schwalm was a young Chamoniard well-known in the town and the Gendarmes have launched in inquest into the accident. There are no direct witnesses to the incident and no-one knows just how or even where he came off the toboggan track, as the corners are protected against such incidents.
