Planpraz Pylons demolition continues

Another one bites the dust, well nearly. Pylon number 5 will be all but a pile of dust by the end of the month as demolition works plough on.

As previously reported work on removing the pylons finally started last year after a long debate between the town hall and the lift company as to who was to foot the bill.

Fortunately the Compagnie du Mont Blanc (CMB) came to the rescue and decided to take on the demolition of the pylons that date back to when a different lift company were operating the lifts. The cost of the project is estimated at 1 000 000 Euros.

Located on a circular supporting platform the demolition team work their way from top to bottom and have made
great progress due to the lack of snow.
Once pylon number 5 is finished the platform will then be transported by a powerful Super Puma helicopter on to pylon number 6 to continue the demolition process.

The project will be put on hold over the summer season, for security reasons, but will be resumed in the Autumn.

Following the Compagnie du Mont-Blancs' managerial dedication towards environmental standards and respect for nature the project is entirely financed by the Compagnie du Mont Blanc.
