A mummified body was discovered on Saturday at the foot of the Mont Blanc du Tacul glacier.
The body, yet to be identified, was spotted during a helicopter rescue late on Saturday. The body has been preserved by the ice and therefore is not of a recent accident - since 1950 there have been 140 reported missing persons on the Mont Blanc.
DNA analysis is to be carried out which should give the identity of the person within the next 10 days.
