Les Houches Kids Contest the 8th and 9th April
Rescheduled from February due to bad weather, the seventh edition of the Le Houches Kids Contest takes place on the slopes of Les Houches on Wednesday and Thursday.
Over 300 young gromettes aged between seven and 14 years old are expected to take part in the two day contest, which includes boardercross, skiercross, big air and free ride.
The fun starts on Wednesday with qualifiers in all disciplines for the different age categories. Thursday will see the finals in each category before a celebratory 'gouter' and prize giving takes place from 17:00 at Espace Olca in the centre of Les Houches.
Local rider Aurelien Ducroz, who has just been crowned World Freeride Champion will be at the comp as a judge.
There will also be lots to see and do on the slopes besides the contest. On both days the Dynastar freestyle pro team will be doing demos and the Otavalo Freeride Telemark team will also be showing us just how it's done.
There will also be hands-on and informative mountain safety workshops as well as an exhibition by Mountain Riders, the eco-mountain awareness association which aims to make us more aware of environmental issues in our beloved mountains.
