The body of a Belgian hiker has been found in Vallorcine, 2 years after he disappeared.

77 year old doctor Claude Bivord got into difficulty on 23rd July 2009 after having set out on a hike in the Aiguilles Rouges area of Vallorcine. He made an emergency call to the PGHM (mountain rescue) and reported that he had a leg injury but was unable to tell them where he was located. He reportedly sounded disorientated and vague.

The PGHM narrowed the location of the call to a 9km section of Le Tour and launched a search party, but were unable to find Mr Bivord.

A hunter came across a collection of bones, which has been confirmed as the body of Mr Bivord, yesterday afternoon while tracking chamois in the Tré-les-Eaux area of the Combe de la Loriaz in Vallorcine.
