Following the dissolution at the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix due to failure to vote for a new company director in December, the announcement has come that former president of the Chamoniarde will take the role as the new president for the Compagnie des Guides.

Chamonix's oldest guide company has finally found a new president following the failure to appoint a new head despite two committee meetings to decide between Eric Favret, the previous president, Marc Cereuil, the president of funding and former president Xavier Chappaz.
The announcement on Monday came with relief for the 200 year old company, former President of the Chamoniarde David Ravanel will be taking on the role.
David Ravanel implemented a number of successful additions during his time at the Chamoniarde (Chamonix high mountain safety organisation) including; new winter snow safety courses, glacier safety training sessions with Petzl and the glacier security handbook.

Best of luck to David Ravanel in this new role for the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix.
