British Mountaineer in Fatal Mont Blanc Fall
1000m fall from the Bosses ridge
A young British mountaineer has died on the Mont Blanc after suffering a 1000 metre fall from the Bosses ridge at 4500 metres.
Ascending from the French side of the Mont Blanc, via the Gouter route, the man in his thirties was said to have fallen from the crête des Bosses - a very narrow ridge which can be exposed to high winds.
A Spanish mountaineer was witness to the incident and quickly gave the alert, as the man fell on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc, it was Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue Service that was called to the scene.
The body of the victim has been recovered and has been transported to Courmayer. A full investigation into the incident has been launched.
