Big screen showing of 'Apocalypse Snow Le Retour' in Chamonix this Thursday

We're very, very excited about this! Ever since seeing the first Apocalypse Snow film whilst we were on holiday in Les Arcs aeons ago, we've been a fan. If you've no idea what we're talking about, let us explain:

Back in fluorescent-tastic 1984, filmmaker Didier Lafond got together a bunch of talented skiing mates including a young Regis Rolland (who, fact fans, went on to establish Apocalypse snowboards which has passed through many re-incarnations to be APO as it's known today) to make a film in Les Arcs.

The first of three films is nothing short of seminal. Don't expect slick graphics, down-with-the-kids music or crotch grabbing snowboarding dudes, but what you will see is a rather out of this world plot, along with the most amazing tandem monoskiing scene you'll ever see and Regis Rolland busting turns on his snowboard, which looks more like an ironing board, than many boarders can manage today.

Enough reminiscing though, it's time for the return of the Apocalypse with a very special big screen outdoor showing of the new, fourth film 'Apocalypse Snow Le Retour' tomorrow (Thursday) night at 20:00 outside Bar L'M on rue Joseph Vallot. Didier Lafond himself will be there to introduce the film, which was filmed a couple of years ago in the Chamonix valley with many Chamonix residents and skibums joining in as extras.
